Dear Colleagues,
The IPA Congress held August 4-9, 2010 in Johannesburg was outstanding. Led and organized by the South African Pediatric Society the content and the speakers were superb. Each attendee I spoke to related that his or her attendance was of extremely high value - equal in any comparison with the best national or regional meeting and superior in the broad reach across all issues of child health. The next IPA Congress is in Melbourne, Australia, August, 2013. Do not miss this event!
August, 2010, also marked the transition of IPA leadership. Dr. Sergio Cabal steps into the role of President, Dr. Chok wan Chan became our Immediate Past President and Dr. Andreas Konstantopoulos has been elected as President Elect. Dr. Zulfiqar Bhutta remains in the post of Treasurer and I succeed Dr. Jane Schaller as Executive Director.
Immediate plans for the rest of 2010 will be focused on beginning a new strategic planning process for the IPA and conducting a needs assessment from all our member organizations. Your ideas how we can assist pediatric organizations around the world to improve well being for children will be very valuable.
I hope you, your family, your organization and the children you care for had a health 2010. I am looking forward to the next three years serving as your Executive Director.
